Job Summary:

We are seeking a Nurse Paralegal to join our team. The Nurse Paralegal will play a crucial role in our healthcare and medical malpractice cases, using their medical expertise to assist attorneys in all aspects of case preparation, from client intake to trial. The ideal candidate is a registered nurse with a strong understanding of medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases, healthcare laws, medical records, and healthcare terminology.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Review and Assessment:

Collaborate with attorneys to review and assess medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Analyze medical records, diagnostic reports, and treatment plans to identify strengths and weaknesses in the case.

Medical Research:

Conduct in-depth research on medical issues, healthcare laws and regulations relevant to cases. Stay current with healthcare industry trends and legal developments.

Client Consultation:

Interact with clients to gather medical histories and understand the details of their cases. Provide clear and empathetic explanations of medical issues.

Document Management:

Organize and maintain medical records, case files, and evidence. Summarize medical records and prepare chronologies.

Expert Witness Coordination:

Assist in the selection and preparation of medical expert witnesses. Facilitate communication between experts and legal teams.

Trial Preparation:

Collaborate in the preparation of clients for deposition and trial, exhibits, demonstrative aids, and expert witness testimony for trial. Assist in the development of trial strategies.

Legal Support:

Support attorneys in drafting legal documents, pleadings, and motions. Attend depositions, trials, and client meetings to provide medical expertise and support.

Other items deemed necessary:

Be a team member and assist when needed to complete various tasks from Partners or Office Manager. The successful candidate will be both a nurse and a paralegal and must be ready to provide support in both roles.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a current and active license. Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience. Three(3) years of experience working as a nurse paralegal or in a similar legal role is preferred. Strong understanding of medicine, healthcare laws, regulations, and medical terminology. Proficiency in medical record analysis and summarization. Exceptional research skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment. An understanding of medical malpractice and personal injury litigation is an asset. Certification as a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNCC) is a plus. Must be a team player ready to contribute to the client's need as a nurse or a paralegal.
