A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.
We are looking for a skilled paralegal to assist our trial team. You will join a paralegal team to assist our attorneys in the coordination of all the details before, during and after trial. The successful candidate will be able to provide assistance during all phases of the litigation process including discovery and pleading preparation, CaseNet filings, gathering medical, billing, and employment records, communicating with clients, organizing and bate stamping records, medical and billing record chronologies, scheduling and other general office duties. This is a highly professional position and only experienced paralegals need apply. Responsibilities Aid in investigation, setting up internal files, research and initial case assessments Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics ,etc.) Maintain pleadings, expert logs and discovery indexes Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests Gather relevant information from a variety of sources Liaison between trial teams and internal/external third parties and clients Assist with jury research Organize and gather medical, billing, and employment records Compiling expert packets Create medical and billing chronologies. Skills Proven working experience as a paralegal Familiarity and proficiency in capturing billable time Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc. Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail Extensive computer and database expertise Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, computer literacy, fax, and familiarity with legal software Bachelor's Degree (preferred), and will consider Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification.
