Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented, experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team (salary will depend on experience). In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive support for bankruptcy proceedings, ensuring smooth case management and effective communication with clients and courts. Your expertise will help streamline processes, manage legal documentation, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and accuracy. Responsibilities Assist attorneys with all phases of bankruptcy cases, including filing petitions, schedules, and proofs of claim using case management software. Conduct legal research on bankruptcy laws, procedural rules, and relevant statutes to support case strategies. Prepare and review legal documents such as motions, affidavits, and correspondence ensuring accuracy and compliance with court requirements. Manage case files electronically using document management systems like Stretto/Best Case cloud-based systems, maintaining organized records for easy retrieval. Communicate effectively with clients, creditors, courts, and other stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on case status. Monitor deadlines and court dates diligently to ensure timely filings and submissions in accordance with procedural law. Support attorneys with administrative tasks including scheduling meetings, drafting reports, proofreading documents, and handling confidential information with discretion. Skills Proven paralegal experience supporting bankruptcy cases or related civil litigation support roles. Strong knowledge of procedural law related to bankruptcy proceedings as well as familiarity with estate planning, UCC law, and general & commercial litigation. Excellent research skills utilizing LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research tools to gather pertinent case law and legal precedents. Proficiency in legal case management software such as Clio, and document review platforms. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. Effective client communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and writing skills for clear legal drafting. Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in proofreading and transcription tasks. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for document creation and data management; experience with contracts, filing systems, and clerical support is preferred.
