Job Description

Christian, Samson, Baskett, Phelan & Bell, PLLC is a Missoula law firm practicing civil litigation, probate and trust administration, real estate, and business law. We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and staff across all practice areas, with an emphasis on litigation. The Legal Assistant is central to the firm's daily operations. The position offers broad exposure to every stage of a matter, from initial client intake through resolution, and direct working relationships with the attorneys handling those matters. Responsibilities Document management. Receive, name, and file incoming correspondence, court notices, discovery, recorded instruments, and records in accordance with firm naming and filing conventions. SharePoint administration. Maintain matter folders, document libraries, and case data so that files remain complete, current, and accessible. New client onboarding. Run conflicts checks, open new matters, prepare and track engagement letters, and assemble client files. Litigation intake is the primary focus; the role also supports intake for estate, real estate, and transactional matters. Document formatting. Format pleadings, briefs, correspondence, and discovery to firm and court standards, including captions, styles, tables of authorities, and exhibits. Daily run. Complete the firm's daily deliveries, including mail, bank deposits, courthouse and clerk filings, and client deliveries. Reception. Answer and route incoming calls, greet clients, and provide a professional first point of contact for the firm. Qualifications Strong organizational skills and consistent attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook; experience with SharePoint preferred. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet firm and court deadlines. Professional judgment and discretion in handling confidential client information. Valid Montana driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for the daily run; mileage reimbursed. Prior law firm or legal support experience preferred but not required.

From $19.00 per hour
