Requirements of the

Senior Workers' Compensation Paralegal:

• Lead the screening and intake process for prospective workers' compensation clients, conducting detailed interviews to understand the injury, employment circumstances, medical treatment, insurance coverage, and other critical facts.
• Evaluate potential cases for viability, using a strong understanding of North Carolina workers' compensation law to identify meritorious claims, red flags, potential challenges, and matters that require attorney review.
• Make informed recommendations regarding the viability and potential strength of prospective claims and ensure attorneys receive complete, well-organized information for final case decisions.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing exceptional communication, building trust, managing expectations, and keeping clients informed throughout the case.
• Manage workers' compensation cases throughout the life of the claim, including coordinating medical treatment, requesting records and bills, communicating with insurance carriers and defense counsel, and monitoring case developments.
• Review medical records, bills, wage information, and other documentation to identify issues that may impact the claim or its value.
• Prepare case valuation summaries, settlement memoranda, and files for mediation and settlement review.
• Maintain accurate case files, monitor deadlines, proactively identify issues, and exercise sound judgment regarding matters requiring attorney involvement.

Requirements of the

Senior Workers' Compensation Paralegal:

• 5+ years of workers' compensation experience, with strong knowledge of North Carolina workers' compensation matters.
• Proven experience screening and evaluating prospective workers' compensation cases, with the ability to recognize viable claims, red flags, and potential challenges.
• Strong intake experience with the ability to ask effective questions, gather critical information, and assess the merits of a potential claim.
• Exceptional client communication skills with the ability to build rapport, explain complex information clearly, manage expectations, and handle sensitive situations professionally
• Ability to independently manage cases, prioritize deadlines, identify issues, and know when attorney involvement is needed.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional, polished demeanor.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Gmail.
• Paralegal Certificate or Adjuster's License preferred.
• South Carolina workers' compensation experience and bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
