Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team, primarily working with a seasoned attorney. In this role, you will provide essential administrative services and support to attorneys, ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes. Your expertise in accurately performing case management, client communication and document preparation activities, as well as managing office administrative services will be vital in delivering exceptional legal work to our clients. Duties Assist attorneys with legal drafting, including pleadings, contracts, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Manage case files using case management software and document management systems such as Clio, maintaining organized and up-to-date records. Support legal discovery processes by reviewing, organizing, and summarizing documents relevant to ongoing cases. Perform data entry tasks with precision, ensuring all case-related information is accurately recorded in relevant systems. Proofread and review legal documents for grammatical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to legal terminology standards. Handle client communication professionally via phone and email, providing updates and answering inquiries with a customer service-oriented approach. Assist with filing, document management, and administrative tasks to ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times while handling legal documents and client data. Prepare accountings. Maintaining appointment and deadline calendar. Managing timekeeping and billing activities. Requirements Good to excellent spelling, grammar, math and typing skills. A clear understanding of, and willing to maintain, all client information strictly confidential. Willingness and ability to timely arrive for work presenting a neat and clean appearance dressed to present a professional image. Excellent client communication skills with a friendly yet professional demeanor. Technical proficiency in word processing, data entry, filing systems, and legal administrative tools. Strong attention to detail combined with analytical thinking to support complex case work effectively. A strong preference will be given to applicants who: A) have a college or associates degree, B) have prior experience in the legal field or c) can demonstrate exceptional computer skills. $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
