Part-Time Legal Assistant Cave Law, PLLC is seeking a part-time Legal Assistant to join a growing solo law firm in Stanfield, North Carolina. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, structured, easy to train, eager to learn, and interested in growing with the firm over time. This is a part-time position to start, approximately 20 hours per week. Pay structure will increase at a defined rate commensurate with reliability, performance, ability to take on additional responsibilities, and the continued growth of the firm. Weekly hours are also expected to increase as the position and firm grows. Firm currently handles a variety of civil litigation matters with a focus on wills and estates, business law, and real estate/property law. Primary Responsibilities The Legal Assistant will help with day-to-day administrative, document-management, and client-communication tasks, including: Receiving, reviewing, scanning, uploading, organizing, and properly storing mail, documents, and client materials in the firm's case-management system and client files. Preparing and sending paper and electronic mail. Reviewing emails and identifying important information for internal tracking and follow-up. Maintaining the firm calendar, deadlines, appointments, consultations, and reminders. Answering phone calls and responding to client and potential-client inquiries in a respectful and professional manner. Assisting with client intake and gathering basic information from prospective clients. Communicating accurately and respectfully with clients, courts, opposing counsel, businesses, government offices, and other third parties. Drafting, reviewing, and formatting basic documents, correspondence, and case-related materials under attorney supervision. Maintaining strict client confidentiality at all times. Required Skills The ideal candidate should have: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A good command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and written communication. Comfort using Microsoft Office, email, scanners, and basic office technology. The ability to learn new systems and follow structured processes. Professional judgment, discretion, and reliability. A respectful communication style with people from all walks of life. A willingness to ask questions, take feedback, and grow into additional responsibilities. Preferred But Not Required Prior law firm experience. Prior office assistant, administrative assistant, or customer-service experience. Notary Public certification, or willingness to become a Notary Public. Experience with website updates, marketing, social media, or basic business promotion. Familiarity with legal case-management software. About the Position This role is intended to grow over time. The right person does not need to know everything on day one, but must be dependable, teachable, organized, and willing to take ownership of tasks as they learn.
