Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

Haynes Melbye Law Office, PLLC has an opening in August of 2026 for a paralegal or legal assistant in our multi-specialty practice. We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated person with preference for someone with experience in the areas of family law, criminal law, probates, estate planning, guardianships, contract law, landlord/tenant issues, mental health and alternative dispute resolution.
Education/Experience:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal is preferred
  • A Two-Year degree is required
  • On-the-job training and experience will be considered
Duties:
Answering phone calls and scheduling; Analyzing and organizing information; Preparing various legal documents; Drafting correspondence and emails; Performing research as needed; Entering data and timesheets; Creating and maintaining files and deadlines; Responding to questions and requests from clients; General office support; and Other tasks as assigned. Candidates should be team-oriented and have excellent communication and organization skills. The ability to maintain confidentiality, along with the ability to appropriately and effectively communicate with clients, attorneys, and the Court, is essential. Pay is highly competitive and will be based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to base pay, performance bonuses are available.
