Sparta NJ law firm is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Paralegal to join our Sparta office. This is a full-time position for a motivated and organized professional who has experience handling New Jersey Workers' Compensation matters and is comfortable independently managing a busy caseload while working closely with attorneys, clients, medical providers, and other members of the legal team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of New Jersey Workers' Compensation procedures, excellent client-service skills, and the ability to move matters efficiently from intake through resolution. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage Workers' Compensation matters from inception through resolution under attorney supervision. Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the life of their matters and provide timely case updates. Maintain regular communication with clients, attorneys, medical providers, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and other parties. Obtain, review, organize, and maintain medical records and other case documentation. Prepare correspondence, pleadings, certifications, settlement documents, and other Workers' Compensation-related documents. Assist with requests for authorized medical treatment and follow up regarding treatment issues. Assist with motions, medical and temporary disability benefit issues, and other case-related matters. Coordinate medical examinations, permanency evaluations, and other appointments. Assist attorneys with settlement preparation and case resolution. Prepare and electronically file documents through New Jersey Courts On-Line and other applicable court systems. Maintain accurate and complete electronic case files and case-management information. Monitor deadlines, calendars, case status, and outstanding items to ensure matters continue moving forward. Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff. Identify opportunities to improve workflows and increase efficiency within the Workers' Compensation practice. Assist with other related legal matters and projects as needed. Qualifications New Jersey Workers' Compensation experience strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred; significant relevant Workers' Compensation experience will also be considered. Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation terminology, procedures, court requirements, and administrative processes. Experience with NJ Courts On-Line strongly preferred. Experience with Filevine or another legal case-management system preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to independently manage priorities and follow matters through to completion. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining responsive and professional client communication. Strong judgment and ability to recognize issues requiring attorney involvement. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also working independently.
