JOB SUMMARY
$45,000 - $60,000 or higher depending on experience Alling & Jillson, Ltd. Lake Tahoe law firm, is looking for a Legal Assistant to join our team. Our practice is diverse and exists to meet the legal needs of our community and our clients throughout the Lake Tahoe area.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidate has twelve (12) months' experience. Employer will consider recent graduates, previous internships, and direct legal work experience. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. College is a plus. Minimum age of 18 due to insurance. Basic understanding of legal terminology and procedures. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. Experience with Clio Timekeeping is a plus. Ability to type at least 30 wpm. Experience with operating printer, scanner, fax machine, filing system. Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently to communicate with the general public. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. Professional, friendly demeanor on the phone, via email, and in person. Ability to push, pull, and lift at least 25lbs.
JOB DUTIES
As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our firm by assisting Attorneys and clients in various legal matters related to General Civil and Trial Practice in all Courts, Corporate, Business Entity Formation and Planning, Real Estate, Gaming, Construction, Trust and Estate Planning, Probate Law, and administrative law, (Including Tahoe Regional Planning Agency practice & counseling). Collaborate with attorneys and senior staff to prepare and format legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence. Assist in organizing and managing case files, ensuring accurate and organized records of client information and legal documentation. Conduct initial client interviews, gather relevant information, and update case records accordingly. Maintain an organized calendar by scheduling appointments, hearings, and meetings. Liaise with court personnel, opposing counsel, and clients in a professional and courteous manner. Conduct legal research under the guidance of attorneys to support case strategies and legal arguments. Assist in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. Draft routine correspondence and communicate with clients regarding case updates and administrative matters. Ensure timely and accurate filing of documents with the court and administrative agencies. Handle administrative tasks, such as answering phones, managing emails, and maintaining office supplies. Performs other tasks as assigned.
