Job Description

The Law Offices of David R. Okrent, Huntington Station, NY The Law Offices of David R. Okrent is an award winning firm and one of the first Elder Law-Estate Planning firms on Long Island serving Nassau, Suffolk and the Five Boroughs. Responsibilities include:
Has knowledge and keeps up to date with changing estate administration, Medicaid rules and processes, Deed preparation and filing, specifically as it relates to Suffolk, Nassau and NYC Medicaid offices, and Will, Trust and advance directives preparation. Maintains a highly efficient system for intake, filing and processing of Medicaid applications and estate administrations Leads correspondence with clients during the intake process to obtain the necessary information and documents for the responsible attorney to do the Medicaid planning, file a Medicaid application and for estate administration Meets with the responsible attorney to develop a task list to implement the Medicaid plan and estate administration for clients . Talks directly with the clients' advisors and/or staff to transfer ownership of various accounts consistent with the task list. Work directly with case workers for the Department of Social Services, nursing homes and courts on processing requests for information. Compensation commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree and/or certificate in paralegal studies from an ABA approved program. Two or more years of experience working with Medicaid applications and estate administration as an administrative assistant or secretary position. Highly personable and enjoys working directly with clients and other professionals (i.e. financial advisors, insurance agents, case workers and other outside professionals). Very motivated and desires to learn a complicated area of the law. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Outlook and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
