Job Description

The Senior Foreclosure Defense & Litigation Paralegal will support attorneys in all stages of foreclosure and real estate litigation matters. Our caseload is primarily focused on Foreclosure Defense (85%), with the remaining 15% spent on Residential and Commercial Real Estate Transactions and General Litigation. Responsibilities include acting as direct support to the Lead Attorney, managing master calendars, law boards, court appearances, depositions, and client meetings. The role involves drafting standard litigation pleadings (Answers with affirmative defenses, complaints, discovery demands, affidavits, notices of appeal, notices of entry, and stipulations) and assembling complete motion packages with exhibit tabs. The paralegal will serve as the primary driver for state e-filings via NYSCEF (Suffolk Supreme, District Courts, Appellate Division) and access federal dockets via PACER as needed. Duties include conducting legal research via Westlaw, utilizing modern tech and legal AI workflows (Claude) to assist with drafting, reviewing and breaking down complex court dockets and e-courts notifications to track strict statutory due dates, and serving as a direct, empathetic bridge between Lead Attorney, court clerks, opposing counsel, and clients without rendering legal advice. Additional duties include assisting with real estate transactional closing packages and maintaining structured electronic client files in accordance with paperless office protocols. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Melville, NY, requiring consistent in-office presence and collaboration with the legal team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 3+ years of civil litigation paralegal experience in NYS courts (Foreclosure Defense experience strongly preferred). Certified Paralegal or Notary Public a plus. Bilingual preferred, but not required. Deep technical proficiency in NYSCEF, PACER, and Westlaw. Comfort with modern office technology; experience with legal AI tools like Claude is a plus, but we will train you on our AI tools and workflows. Demonstrated proficiency managing attorney calendars, law boards, and strict statutory deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable serving as a polished, direct liaison between clients, court clerks, and lead counsel. Exceptional organizational skills with flawless attention to detail under tight court deadlines and ability to operate standard office equipment (copiers/scanners/faxes).
