A well-established plaintiff's personal injury law firm in the Mid-Hudson Valley is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Motions Department in our Newburgh office. This position is ideal for a highly organized legal professional with strong litigation support and motion practice experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities while meeting critical deadlines. Responsibilities Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys in the Motions Department. Prepare, transcribe, draft, assemble, serve, and electronically file motions, oppositions, stipulations, orders, notices of appeal, and appellate documents. E-file documents in New York, New Jersey, Surrogate's Courts, and federal trial and appellate courts. Prepare and organize Requests for Judicial Intervention (RJIs), exhibits, and supporting documentation for court filings. Format and manage PDF documents using Adobe Acrobat. Confirm motion return dates, submission dates, and oral argument schedules in accordance with applicable court rules. Draft and process correspondence, affidavits, stipulations, orders, and other legal documents. Meet with clients to review, revise, and notarize affidavits. Provide litigation support for state and federal matters. Maintain accuracy while handling multiple assignments and strict filing deadlines. Utilize Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, OneDrive, and our case management platform. Training will be provided as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 2-5 years of legal assistant, legal secretary, or litigation support experience. Motion practice experience required. Strong knowledge of court filing procedures and e-filing systems. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize competing deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat. Strong spelling, grammar, and proofreading abilities. Typing speed of 60-65 WPM preferred. Prior law firm experience preferred. Associate's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred. Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and client service skills.
