Small downtown Cleveland law firm is seeking a full-time Office Administrator / Legal Assistant. Our practice primarily handles Ohio workers' compensation, personal injury, and Social Security disability matters. This is an important, hands-on position in a small office. The person hired will work directly with attorneys, clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and other offices, and will play an important role in keeping the day-to-day operations of the firm organized and moving forward. The right person will be detail-oriented, dependable, comfortable communicating with clients, and willing to follow through on outstanding items while asking questions when needed. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, engaged, and willing to learn.
Responsibilities include:
Answering phones and communicating with clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and other offices Opening, reviewing, and processing incoming mail; preparing and sending routine correspondence Setting up, maintaining, scanning, and organizing physical and electronic client files Requesting medical records, medical bills, and health-insurance lien information, and following up on outstanding requests Assisting with workers' compensation, personal injury, and Social Security disability files, including routine forms and correspondence Monitoring outstanding items and following up to make sure they are completed Handling routine office bookkeeping, including paying office bills, processing incoming checks, and maintaining appropriate records Ordering supplies and assisting attorneys and staff with general office and case-management needs Prior law-office experience is helpful but is not necessarily required for the right person. Experience with workers' compensation, personal injury, or Social Security disability matters is a plus. Applicants should be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, and other common office technology. Experience with QuickBooks is a plus. A willingness to learn, use, and engage with modern AI tools and other new technology is also important to this position.
