A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Summary
MOWERY YOUELL
& GALEANO, LTD., a suburban Columbus, Ohio, AV rated boutique law firm is seeking a legal assistant/paralegal with domestic relations experience. The firm offers a balanced lifestyle and collegial atmosphere that values creativity, self-initiative and strong analytical skills. Applicants should have prior family law experience, should be able to work well independently and be a self-starter. Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. This position requires the individual to maintain the confidentiality of client matters at all times.

Domestic Relations Paralegal Location:
Dublin, Ohio Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for file and case management;
  • Drafting general documents, including client and legal correspondence;
  • Prepare drafts of legal motions and affidavits for attorneys' review and approval;
  • Draft discovery requests and responses for attorneys' approval along with compiling and analyze discovery records;
  • Preparing subpoenas;
  • E-file documents as required;
  • Review and summarizing case status;
  • Coordinate times and dates for hearings;
  • Assist in deposition, hearing and trial preparation;
  • Attendance at trials, as requested by supported attorneys;
  • Performing case and court-related electronic research as requested by supported attorneys; and,
  • Provide backup support to other legal support staff as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Applicant should have a paralegal certification or an Associate's Degree required with 4 or more years of domestic relations law firm experience. Proficient in all Microsoft Office components, knowledge of Clio preferred, research using Westlaw, Pacer and Federal, State and Local court databases.
