Job Description

Paralegal- Defense Litigation/Medical Malpractice Defense- Scranton, PA Weber Gallagher h as an immediate opening for an experienced defense litigation Paralegal in our Scranton office. The individual will be responsible for supporting a team of attorneys with litigation tasks from inception through trial and close. Qualified candidates should have experience with medical malpractice, general liability and professional liability cases and ability to work independently. This is an in-office role and requires in-office attendance 5 days/week.
Responsibilities:
Manage client cases from inception through trial and closing. Daily time entry billing requirements. Obtain, review, analyze and summarize documents, including medical records, financial documents and other relevant case information. Trial preparation - such as trial binders, exhibits and preparing witness files. Manage court docket calendar. Create status reports and provide updates to appropriate parties. Willingness to work on cases from start to finish and meet all court deadlines. Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience, preferably in defense litigation support. Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved organization. Excellent attention to detail and organization skills. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet all deadlines and prioritize workload. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams of attorneys, legal staff, court staff, clients, expert witnesses, etc. Demonstrated interest in defense litigation. Ability to perform legal research, experience with Lexis a plus. Familiarity with reviewing and obtaining medical records. Experience with time entry billing in a law firm setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required. Ability to work onsite from our Scranton office in a hybrid capacity. A Certificate in Paralegal Studies from an ABA approved organization or a bachelor's degree required. Experience with Pennsylvania law preferred Ability to work from our Scranton office 5 days/week.
