About CHOP Out Hunger CHOP Out Hunger is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting childhood hunger and ensuring children and families have reliable access to nutritious food. Our team works with community partners, schools, volunteers, and donors to recover, organize, and distribute food throughout our community. We are looking for a dependable, energetic Operations Assistant to join our Scranton branch and warehouse team. Position is Part-Time with the possibility of becoming Full-Time 20-25 hours per week. Flexible schedule. Position Summary The Operations Assistant supports the daily operations of our Scranton warehouse and food distribution programs. This is a hands-on position that combines warehouse, inventory, food distribution, volunteer, and general operational responsibilities. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to jump in wherever needed. This position is an important part of ensuring that donated food moves efficiently from our warehouse to the children and families who need it. Essential Responsibilities Assist with receiving, unloading, sorting, inspecting, and organizing donated and purchased food. Assist with loading and unloading vehicles and preparing food for distribution. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment. Assist with inventory management, including counting, rotating, labeling, and organizing food products. Help prepare food orders and deliveries for schools, community partners, and distribution programs. Operate pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment as needed and as trained. Assist with coordinating and directing volunteers during warehouse and distribution activities. Help ensure food is handled, stored, and distributed according to established food safety and organizational procedures. Assist with routine cleaning and maintenance of the warehouse, equipment, and vehicles. Help identify operational needs and communicate issues to the Operations Manager. Provide support for special events, mobile distributions, and other CHOP Out Hunger programs as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous warehouse, food distribution, logistics, nonprofit, or related experience preferred. Ability to safely lift and move boxes and food products, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical warehouse activities throughout the workday. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of a team. Comfortable working with volunteers and members of the community. Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing operational needs. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Forklift or pallet jack experience is a plus; training may be provided.
