Position Overview:
We are seeking a high-caliber, motivated, and tech-savvy Paralegal to join our active real estate and business law litigation division. If you are a recent graduate or a professional transitioning into law with exceptional organizational skills and a desire to learn, this role offers direct mentorship from experienced attorneys. You will quickly learn to manage case lifecycles, utilize cutting-edge legal technology, and interact with Michigan and Federal court systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Legal Technology Support:
    Learn and manage daily case tracking within our practice management system, Clio Manage, including docketing deadlines, tracking case tasks, and utilizing document templates.
  • Document Preparation:
    Assist in drafting initial routine legal documents, including proofs of service, deposition notices, simple motions, and correspondence for attorney review.
  • Court Filing:
    Under attorney supervision, learn to format, organize, and electronically file pleadings and motions using the state's electronic filing portals.
  • Discovery Organization:
    Organize incoming electronic discovery files, build indices for records, assemble exhibit notebooks, and draft basic discovery response shells.
Administrative Support:
Manage physical and digital case files, track court schedules, and help prepare trial materials and presentation tools.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program (e.g., GVSU, Ferris State). Recent graduates are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience:
    Prior internship experience at a law firm or a strong academic record in litigation-focused coursework is highly preferred.
  • Technical Aptitude:
    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat. Comfort adapting quickly to cloud-based systems like Clio Manage is a must.
  • Soft Skills:
    Outstanding attention to detail, strong legal research and writing abilities, a proactive attitude, and the ability to accept constructive feedback during the training process. What We Offer
