Job Description

Immigration Paralegal — Hybrid (Paramus, NJ) Bedoya & Hussain Law Firm, LLC Hybrid | Paramus, New Jersey Full-Time | $40,000-$45,000 annually, depending on experience Bedoya & Hussain Law Firm is seeking an immigration paralegal to join our growing immigration practice. Our immigration team handles humanitarian and family-based matters, including affirmative and defensive asylum, removal defense, SIJS, adjustment of status, family petitions, detained matters, and immigration bond. We are growing this practice deliberately, and we are looking for someone who wants to build a career in it. The Role This is a hands-on role supporting our immigration team and practice manager from intake through filing. Because our immigration practice is still growing, at the outset a part of your week will be New York workers' compensation defense support alongside our comp team. What You'll Do Prepare and file immigration applications and petitions with USCIS and EOIR Manage immigration case files from intake through filing Support our New York workers' compensation team with deposition scheduling and administrative work. Track deadlines and keep case status current across both practices Identify missing information or approaching deadlines before they become problems Communicate clearly and professionally with clients What We're Looking For 1-2 years of immigration experience, or strong adjacent experience (asylum organization, DOJ accredited representative work, immigration clinic, or EOIR exposure) Working familiarity with immigration forms and filing processes Strong organization and genuine ownership of deadlines and follow-up Comfort learning a second practice area while continuing to develop immigration experience Clear, professional written and verbal communication Spanish is a plus, not a requirement (we have Spanish-speaking staff available to assist) How We Work Our attorneys and paralegals take ownership of their work. That does not mean working without support. It means knowing what is assigned to you, keeping a reliable system for deadlines and follow-up, raising questions when you need to, and not waiting for someone else to discover something was missed. You will report to our immigration practice manager and work alongside experienced immigration and workers' compensation teams. Our preference is to hire someone who wants to grow with the practice, not simply fill a seat.
