Job Description

Legal Services of Northern Virginia (LSNV) is a large, high-volume legal aid organization in Virginia, with 45+ attorneys spanning seven offices. We help thousands of clients each year in civil legal matters, while cultivating relationships with community service organizations, local law firms, pro bono attorneys, and local bar associations, and other stakeholders to serve the region's low-income and neediest populations.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a full-time a full-time Intake Paralegal to join our dedicated team. This full-time paralegal position will provide customer service to legal aid applicants, with a strong commitment to equal justice and advocacy for low-income persons. This position will support housing law and eviction prevention matters. This is a hybrid position, based in our Fairfax office (10700 Page Avenue STE 100, Fairfax, VA 22030).

Essential Functions:

Communicates directly with clients. Conducts telephone and in-person intake and interfaces with the public to screen applicants for legal aid eligibility, including regular outreach at the Fairfax County Courthouse. Performs general office duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated commitment to public interest work and a strong desire to assist indigent applicants. Further, the ideal candidate will meet the following requirements: Excellent customer service skills. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Interest in working with clients of diverse ethnicities and backgrounds, sexual orientations, genders, and individuals with disabilities. Ability to maintain client confidentiality. Ability to use office technologies, including case management software. Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university and/or paralegal certificate, strongly preferred. Bilingual ability, strongly preferred. Legal aid or nonprofit experience, preferred.

Compensation:

The salary ranges from $49,000 to $62,250 based on years of experience and the legal aid pay scale.
