Role Description The Legal Assistant will provide daily support to attorneys by organizing case files, managing calendars, and maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities include preparing and formatting legal documents, drafting basic correspondence, and assisting with filing and document management in both electronic and traditional formats. The role also involves communicating with clients, courts, and external parties to schedule appointments, gather information, and relay updates. The Legal Assistant will handle administrative tasks such as data entry, billing support, and task tracking to ensure timely case progress. This is a remote role.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and reviewing legal forms and correspondence. Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, courts, and external stakeholders in a professional manner. Administrative assistance abilities, including calendar management, data entry, record keeping, and file organization. Attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and strong organizational skills in a remote work setting. Competence with common office and legal software (e.g., word processing, document management, video conferencing tools). Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision. Relevant education or training in legal studies, paralegal work, or office administration is beneficial; prior law firm or legal office experience is a plus. Previous experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, case manager, or similar legal-support professional Experience in workers' compensation, personal injury, insurance claims, or litigation Familiarity with the Defense Base Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, or U.S. Department of Labor matters Experience working with medical records and medical providers Experience with legal case-management software Experience communicating with clients from diverse cultural and international backgrounds
Pay:
$19.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
