This is a Contract position suited for someone who is detail oriented and brings strong judgment, precision, and hands-on experience reviewing citations in high-volume legal filings. The role will play a key part in trial preparation by helping ensure briefs, motions, and expert-related documents are accurate, properly supported, and ready for submission. This position is 100% remote so paralegals from across the US are encouraged to apply. You must have significant experience with cite checking to be considered.
Responsibilities:
Review citations in motions, briefs, declarations, and expert materials to confirm accuracy, consistency, and proper legal support. Verify quoted language, record references, and legal authorities against source materials to reduce errors before filing. Shepardize and update cited cases, statutes, and other authorities to identify changes that may affect legal arguments. Assist attorneys with trial preparation by organizing supporting materials and helping maintain submission-ready documentation. Coordinate with legal team members to resolve citation issues, missing references, and formatting inconsistencies in substantive documents.
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of paralegal experience with a strong background in civil litigation. Prior experience with matters in Federal court is a plus. Demonstrated experience performing extensive cite checking for major motions, briefs, or expert reports. Working knowledge of Shepardizing and validating legal authorities across litigation documents. Familiarity with trial preparation processes and the documentation standards required in active cases.
