What they do

A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

We are seeking a full-time litigation paralegal for our Crown Point, IN office. The successful candidate will have experience in defense litigation, experience in drafting discovery, reviewing and compiling documents for production, preparing requests for medical records, and helping with trial preparations. Must be proficient in Word, detail-oriented, and have strong writing, organizational and communication skills. Trial experience a plus. Qualifications
  • Strong legal research skills using Lexis-Nexis
  • Experience in legal case management and document review
  • Proficient in legal drafting and writing skills
  • Knowledge of litigation procedures and Microsoft Word
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Lexis/Westlaw
  • JVR research etc.
  • Researching and retaining experts
  • Preparing medical chronologies and specials summaries
  • Preparing deposition summaries
  • Use of Odyssey e-file and experience with federal court filing and/or rule 26 disclosures
  • Preparation of subpoenas for trial and medical records.
  • FOIA/APRA

$60,000.00
