Job Description

Sound Impact Law, PLLC is seeking an experienced, highly organized Part-Time Paralegal to join our growing boutique law firm. Sound Impact Law is primarily a business law firm serving entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations throughout Washington. Our practice includes business formation support, contracts, compliance matters, and related business advisory work. While we focus on business and commercial matters, we also selectively accept general civil litigation matters. This position will support both sides of the practice, with a particular need for someone who already has civil litigation practice support experience and is comfortable with Washington court procedures, filings, discovery, pleadings, and deadline management. We are a lean and collaborative team. The right person does more than wait for assignments. They take ownership of their work, anticipate what needs to happen next, raise issues before they become problems, and are comfortable following up with attorneys and other team members when something is needed to keep a matter moving. Core Responsibilities Support case and matter management from pre-litigation through resolution and, where applicable, trial Draft, review, proofread, and format pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents Prepare and file documents in Washington courts, including navigating filing requirements across different counties and jurisdictions Calculate, calendar, monitor, and proactively follow up on litigation deadlines under applicable court rules, scheduling orders, and case requirements Maintain accurate case calendars, task lists, files, and case management systems Support discovery, including preparing requests and responses, organizing document productions, tracking deadlines, and managing exhibits and supporting materials Prepare and organize materials for hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, interviews, and trial Coordinate service of process, court reporters, witnesses, meetings, interviews, and other case-related logistics Review filings and supporting documents for compliance with Washington court rules, local court rules, and procedural requirements Support attorneys with procedural law knowledge, document review, factual development, and case preparation Assist with business and transactional matters, including drafting, document preparation, review, organization, and matter management Communicate professionally and responsively with clients, attorneys, opposing counsel, court personnel, legal professionals, and other parties Coordinate case-related project management to ensure assignments, filings, and deadlines move forward efficiently Identify outstanding tasks, missing information, and approaching deadlines and proactively follow up with the appropriate team member Qualifications Candidates should have: At least 1-2 years of recent paralegal experience; 3-5 years particularly desirable Experience preparing and filing pleadings and other documents in Washington courts Working knowledge of Washington court rules, civil procedure, and local court requirements Experience drafting and reviewing pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and legal pleading formatting Experience with legal case management software; MyCase experience is a plus Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading accuracy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong client communication skills and professional phone and email etiquette Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and competing priorities Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team A Paralegal Certificate, Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or JD is preferred, although relevant experience will also be considered. Professional Ownership Matters Here We value professional accountability regardless of title. Our paralegal is expected to take ownership of case workflow. If a deadline is approaching, something is missing, or attorney action is needed before a matter can move forward, we want someone who is comfortable speaking up and following up. We value that input and listen when team members raise concerns. Good judgment matters just as much as initiative. We are looking for someone who knows when to independently move a task forward, when to ask a question, and when something needs an attorney's immediate attention. Schedule and Work Environment This is a part-time W-2 position with a regular schedule of approximately 20 hours per week. Typical minimum hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Candidates must be able to work from our Normandy Park office approximately one to two days per week, with the remainder of the schedule eligible for remote work depending on firm and case needs. Sound Impact Law is moving into its new Normandy Park office on October 1, 2026, as we enter the next stage of the firm's growth. Our practice is increasingly concentrated in King County and the surrounding area. Occasional in-person litigation support or local travel may be required with advance notice. Required work-related travel is reimbursed in accordance with firm policy. A Role That Can Grow With You We are building the firm intentionally, and we recognize that professional growth does not look the same for everyone. Someone who values a consistent part-time schedule can remain part-time as the firm grows. We are willing to build additional staffing around a strong team member who wants to maintain that schedule. For someone interested in growing their role, there may also be opportunities for additional hours, increased responsibility, a future full-time position, and potentially a lead paralegal role as our legal team expands. This is not an entry-level training position, but it can be an excellent opportunity for a paralegal who already has a foundation in litigation practice and wants to continue developing their legal career in a boutique environment where strong performance can translate into meaningful responsibility. Compensation and Benefits The expected hourly range for this position is $28.00-$38.00 per hour . Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, litigation proficiency, and other factors permitted by law.
Benefits include:
Paid sick leave: 1.5 hours accrued for every 40 hours worked
PTO:
accrual begins after 90 days of employment Hybrid work flexibility Mileage reimbursement for required work-related travel Join Our Team Sound Impact Law is building a modern boutique practice focused on providing thoughtful, high-quality legal services while maintaining a collaborative and supportive working environment. For the right person, this is an opportunity to become an important part of a growing firm rather than simply filling a support position. We value people who bring ideas, exercise judgment, communicate openly, take ownership of their work, and take pride in making the entire team better. If you are passionate about providing top-tier legal support, thrive on organization and accuracy, and want your contributions to genuinely matter within a growing boutique law firm, we would like to hear from you.
