Law Office of Tyler Rody, LLC — Spartanburg, South Carolina We are a small plaintiff's law firm in Spartanburg looking for a Legal Assistant/Intern who is smart, motivated, and excited about the opportunity to learn. You do not need prior law firm experience. We are much more interested in finding the right person and teaching them. Our firm intentionally handles a smaller number of cases so that we can know our clients, know their cases, and give each case the attention it deserves. For someone interested in the legal profession, that creates an opportunity to observe legal proceedings, interact with clients, and help them in their time of need. You will get to see how real cases develop from the first client meeting through discovery, depositions, mediation, settlement, and trial. You will work alongside an attorney and paralegal and have the opportunity to contribute to the work we do for our clients. What You Will Do No two days at a small law firm are exactly the same. You may help communicate with clients, organize medical records and bills, and case files, request records and documents, prepare correspondence, assist with discovery, organize exhibits, prepare for depositions and trials, and help with the day-to-day work that keeps cases moving forward. As you learn and become comfortable with the work, we want to give you more opportunities and more responsibility. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is curious, dependable, organized, and willing to learn. You should be comfortable asking questions. We would rather explain why something matters than simply tell you what to do. Over time, our goal is for you to begin recognizing what needs to be done and understanding how your work fits into the larger case. Attention to detail matters in a law firm. So does judgment. We do not expect an intern to arrive with either fully developed. We do expect you to care about getting better at both.
