Job Description

Legal Assistant for Plaintiffs' Law Firm in Chattanooga Do you thrive when the day pulls you in three directions at once and you still manage to end it knowing exactly what moved forward? Do you love people—and can you also handle the detail work that keeps cases on track? If yes, read on. We are a medium-size and growing plaintiffs' law firm in Chattanooga, and we are hiring a Legal Assistant. This position is two jobs in one. You will assist our paralegals with the work that keeps cases moving—document organization, discovery, scheduling, case preparation, evidence tracking, and all the operational backbone that courts and clients depend on. You will also help with our intake operation, working alongside our intake coordinator to turn calls into clients. Both matter equally. Both are essential. That means this job demands three core strengths. First, you must care about people without being sentimental about process. You understand that callers are scared and clients are people who have had their worst week. But you also know that empathy without execution is just talk. Second, you must be ruthlessly organized. Litigation waits for no one, and neither do calling prospects. You track deadlines, organize documents, manage schedules, and you do not drop the ball—because when you do, it costs money and cases. Third, you must be reliable and eager to learn. You do not need a law degree or prior legal experience. What you need is the ability to ask questions, master systems quickly, and take pride in work done well. You may come from many backgrounds—customer service, medical office administration, retail management, event coordination, or anywhere you developed strong organizational skills and genuine interest in people. If you have prior experience in a fast-paced environment where detail work and customer service both mattered, that's a plus. But the right person with drive to learn can absolutely succeed here.
