A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

The Miller Firm is looking for a new legal assistant to join our firm! The ideal applicant would be a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills. Job Description Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, notate files. Create physical and electronic files for attorney/firm use. Document preparation Scheduling and calendar management Electronic document management Greet clients, complete new client intakes Provide administrative support to attorney Assist with office marketing Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word ) and Adobe PDF Excellent secretarial and organizational skills Excellent customer service and communication skills Excellent typing skills, computer skills and interpersonal skills
Job Hours:
32 hours per week. Monday - Thursday 8:30 -4:30 (As a small firm, we offer some work-hour flexibility)
Pay:
From $11.00 - $15.00 per hour. (Paid bi-weekly as an independent contractor)
Benefits:
One week of paid Vacation per year Five paid sick days per year
Paid Major Holidays Education:
High School Degree (Required); Bachelor's or Associate's Degree (Preferred)
Experience:
At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office (especially Word) and Adobe PDF (Required). Previous experience as a receptionist or administrative assistant (Preferred).
