A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description

This position involves working within a fast-paced and client-centered environment and is an in office position only. The candidate must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, have a keen attention to detail, strong communication, client service skills and a good personality. Hours are Monday thru Thursday from 8:30am until 12:30 pm and some Fridays. Responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to: Greeting appointments and walk-ins Experience answering telephones, screening calls, taking detailed messages, directing calls, and assisting clients Provide administrative assistance to attorney which includes maintaining a drafting correspondence and other documents. Maintains calendar by scheduling closings and appointments Demonstrates good time management Proactive with knowledge of matters and key clients and parties Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Excel Interpersonal skills critical in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone and follow the instruction effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers efax system, VOIP Phone system, and Clio practice management software Ability to travel to private and public buildings locally, to assist the firm in filing and/or obtaining legal documents This position is in office only
Pay:
From $15.00 per hour Application Question(s): Have you worked in a law office for an attorney before? Have you every used Clio practice management software? Are you familiar with Civil and Criminal Discovery requests? If I ask you to assist a client with answering interrogatories and request for production of documents what do you do to assist in that task?
