Paralegal will support the Immigration Attorneys to prepare various aspects of client's immigration case. They will also serve as a back-up receptionist When the receptionist is out of office.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting attorneys in document review and all aspects of case preparation; Preparing and conducting intakes and assisting with filling out intake forms, if needed; Drafting immigration forms for review by attorneys; Corresponding with clients and/or government officials; Responsible for collection documents, maintaining documents, and updating documents; Making sure filing deadlines are met; Updating client information in case management software; Translating documents at the request of the attorneys; When serving as a backup receptionist, duties include answering calls, typing notes in the database, greeting clients, taking detailed, informative messages and giving them to the appropriate person, scheduling appointments, completing general office tasks, including copying, filing, scanning and faxing, and light data entry.
Skills and Qualifications:
Some college education required; Legal work status required (6 months to 1 year); Office environment experience required (6 months to 1 year minimum); Bilingual in Spanish and English (written and oral) required - must be fluent in both language ; Ability to work independently to manage a substantial workload with deadlines; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all case and client information; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to learn immigration software; Strong interpersonal and competent communication skills. Respect for others and sensitivity to the needs and legal issues affecting people of diverse backgrounds; Normal work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (M-F). Salary commensurate with experience.
