This role is for an experienced seasoned professional with at least 5 years of Texas litigation experience who can manage a heavy docket independently. You will handle cases from the filing of the lawsuit through trial preparation. The ideal candidate loves order, thrives under deadlines, and is a master of case management. Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred but not required and Workers' Comp experience is also preferred but not required. This is an onsite full-time role based out of the firm's Houston, Texas office location during normal business hours.
Responsibilities include:
Docket & Deadline Management:
Own the litigation calendar. Track, calculate, and hit all Rules of Civil Procedure deadlines flawlessly.
Drafting & Pleadings:
Draft original petitions, answers, motions, discovery requests, and responses with minimal supervision.
Discovery Mastery:
Manage heavy document productions, index medical records, draft privilege logs, and prepare deposition shells.
Trial Preparation:
Assemble trial notebooks, coordinate witness schedules, manage exhibit lists, and assist with courtroom logistics.
Communication:
Act as the primary liaison between attorneys, clients, defense counsel, courts, and expert witnesses.
Filing:
Handle e-filing in both state and federal (CM/ECF) courts.
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 5+ years of litigation experience; Paralegal Certificate or degree is preferred, but equivalent hands-on litigation experience will be strongly considered Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred Workers Comp experience preferred but not required Must be Tech Savvy
  • proficiency with case management software, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams/Zoom, and remote collaboration tools; SmartAdvocate experience is preferred but not required Must be able to perform well in a high level, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision Must be organized & independent with a proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize deadlines, follow up consistently, and maintain detailed case records Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a professional and courteous demeanor toward clients and staff Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Paid time off Paid holidays Health insurance benefits (medical, dental, vision) 401K with employer match
