This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and can manage case activity from intake through trial preparation. The role calls for strong judgment, precise document handling, and confident communication with clients, attorneys, courts, and outside providers.
Responsibilities:
Open and organize new litigation matters, assemble case files, and prepare materials for attorney assessment and strategy discussions. Maintain active communication with clients and other parties to gather updates, relay information, and support ongoing case progress. Manage litigation calendars by tracking court dates, depositions, hearings, discovery deadlines, and other critical events in both state and federal matters. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, and related legal documents for attorney review and filing. Review and summarize deposition transcripts, medical records, and case-related documentation to support litigation strategy and case evaluation. Request, monitor, and compile records from medical providers and other third parties, while keeping chronologies and case documentation current. Prepare subpoenas, demand packages, hearing exhibits, and document productions for delivery to the court, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders. Coordinate with expert witnesses, medical professionals, and service providers for examinations, records reviews, and other case support activities. Assist with settlement preparation, mediation support, and trial readiness by organizing evidence, exhibits, and key case materials. Conduct legal and factual research using electronic research platforms and other available resources to assist attorneys with case development. At least 5 years of paralegal experience supporting litigation matters in a law firm or comparable legal setting. Hands-on experience with court filings, including electronic filing procedures in state and federal courts. Strong working knowledge of drafting legal pleadings, discovery materials, motions, and case correspondence. Proven ability to manage detailed calendars and monitor multiple deadlines across active litigation files. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and legal stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently, stay organized under pressure, and manage competing priorities effectively. Experience with personal injury is strongly preferred. Familiarity with dictation workflows and legal document preparation tools is preferred.
