Job Description

Latitude is assisting a municipal government organization with identifying an experienced Legal Assistant to provide full-time support to its legal function. This is expected to be a 3-6 month temporary engagement, with the potential to convert to a permanent position based on the client's needs and mutual fit. The role requires working on-site five days per week at the client's office in Snoqualmie. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a public-sector environment, and able to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and discretion. Responsibilities Provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to attorneys and other members of the legal department. Prepare, format, proofread, and revise correspondence, legal documents, memoranda, agreements, resolutions, ordinances, and other materials. Maintain legal files, matter records, calendars, deadlines, and document-management systems. Assist with organizing and tracking contracts, public records, litigation matters, claims, and other legal department projects. Coordinate meetings, appointments, deadlines, and other scheduling needs. Assist with document collection, preparation, filing, and distribution. Communicate professionally with internal departments, outside counsel, courts, government agencies, vendors, and members of the public, as appropriate. Support attorneys with legal and factual research, document review, and other projects as needed. Assist with records management and retention requirements applicable to a public-sector organization. Handle sensitive and confidential information with appropriate discretion. Help maintain organized workflows and ensure that legal matters and requests are followed through to completion. Provide additional administrative and legal support as needed based on departmental priorities. Qualifications Prior experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Administrative Assistant, Paralegal Assistant, or in a similar legal-support role. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and competing priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong proofreading, editing, formatting, and document-preparation skills. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and related office technology. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys, staff, and other departments. Sound judgment and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Experience supporting a government entity, municipality, public agency, or public-sector legal department is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Washington State municipal matters, public records requirements, records retention, contracts, litigation, or other governmental legal work is helpful. Ability and willingness to work on-site in Snoqualmie, Washington, five days per week.

The annualized pay for this position ranges from $50,000 - $80,000+ when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate's preference (each candidate's pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate's competitiveness for the position).
