What they do
A Paralegal or Legal Assistant assists attorneys and law offices with a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support to legal research and writing. Maintains and organizes files or file databases. Conducts legal or other background research, assists with preparation for trials or hearings, and drafts documents to be filed. Uses software for electronic discovery of materials such as email for a trial. May specialize in a particular area of the law such as corporate or criminal law, family law or real estate law.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Typing, formatting, proofreading and/or finalizing documents, from dictation, handwriting, or existing documents as directed by the attorneys.
- Maintaining electronic and paper files of legal documents updated contact lists, and company files.
- Maintaining calendars of attorneys and organizing meetings, for clients consults and/or legal document signing.
- Performing client work as directed by the attorney.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Estate planning, Medicaid planning or Probate law preferred, but not required.
- 1 year paralegal experience required.
- Must be detailed orientated, with excellent proofreading, grammar, and spelling skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and interface with clients professionally and effectively in person and on the phone.
- Exceptional technical skills required, as well as strong organizational, communication and client service skills.
- Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and client contact database.
- Excellent time management, prioritizing skills, and ability to adjust to a changing work flow.
- Position requires high level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
