Job Description

JOB The Public Safety Department is seeking two (2) part-time and one (1) full-time motivated and experienced Parking Enforcement Officers to patrol the City, enforce parking regulations, and support the safe and efficient flow of traffic. Under the general supervision of the Public Safety Director, these positions serve as leads in the field, issue parking citations, assist with the removal of abandoned vehicles, respond to parking- and traffic-related concerns, and maintain accurate activity and citation records. The ideal candidates will provide excellent customer service to the public while ensuring compliance with City parking laws and ordinances. 2 Part-Time & 1
Full-Time/ Rank & File FLSA:
Non-Exempt. SUMMARY Under general supervision of the Public Safety Director, the Parking Enforcement Officer serves as a lead to patrol assigned areas of the City, enforce parking regulations and issue citations; to assist in the removal of abandoned vehicles from City streets; to maintain a variety of related records; and to perform related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES EXAMPLES OF REGULAR DUTIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responds to field issues as requested by Public Safety Director or designated staff. Maintains the proper equipment to complete their daily duties and responsibilities. Patrols the City in a motor vehicle. Enforces parking regulations and issues citations as appropriate. Answers questions and provides information concerning parking regulations. Provides helpful information for visitors to the area. Maintains activity and citation logs. Identifies and assists in the removal of abandoned vehicles on City streets. In an emergency, where a substitute/on-call crossing guard is unavailable, may act in their absence. May assist in the introductory and safety training of crossing guards. Operates a computer terminal to prepare and maintain records, files and reports; can appear at hearings and presents evidence for disputed citations. Responds to requests for assistance with traffic control problems. Keeps vehicles supplied for work shift. Performs vehicle pre-trip inspections on parking control vehicles. Notifies management/supervisor of repairs which are required and/or needed. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work may require frequent walking, talking, hearing, using hands and fingers, and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Work is primarily performed in outdoor environments with considerable time spent in moderate temperatures (above 80 degrees), with exposure to the elements including heavy rain. Good near vision, far vision and color perception are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The essential duties of this position are performed mainly outdoors and at times in a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. May be exposed to wet surfaces and occasional loud noises. Work may involve exposure to moving traffic. Must be able to work during weekdays, weekends, and holidays on any assigned shift.
