Job Description
Summary:
Patrols designated areas and issues summonses for motor vehicles to enforce state, county, or municipal statutes, resolutions, and/or ordinances for regulation related to the parking of motor vehicles within the municipality; performs other related duties as needed. Work is performed under general direction from the Operations Supervisor, who assigns duties and reviews performance for adherence to departmental policies and procedures.Duties:
Issues summonses for motor vehicles that are parked unlawfully or parked overtime at a meter in an assigned area; makes checkmarks on tires of vehicles parked in unmetered time restricted areas, records time, and returns at specified intervals to issue summonses to vehicles remaining in area in violation of time limitations. Checks the condition of the parking meters and informs those responsible for the repair of meters of any malfunctions. Gives testimony in court pertaining to summonses issued. Will operate a motor vehicle in connection with this position. May assist with the delivery of traffic cones, barricades, and directing traffic during parades and major storms.Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent, and valid New Jersey Driver's License. Customer service experience highly preferred and experience is parking enforcement preferred. Candidate must be able to work the overnight shift hours of 2:00am - 5:00am, seven days per week. Successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the geography of Township of Montclair streets, exceptional customer service skills and the capability to work with the public, specifically with disgruntled customers, with the ability to de-escalate situations when necessary.Hourly Rate and Schedule:
$19.68 per hour. Part-time; temporary (this is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent); not to exceed twenty-eight (28) hours per week. Overnight shift; at a minimum, candidates must be able to work the hours of 2:00am to 5:00am, seven days per week (more flexible hours may be assigned and added to shifts, up to 28 hours per week max).Closing Date:
