Announcement number 26-51 Control number 885993200 This job is open to Help The public U.S. Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Help The United Stes Probion and Pretrial Services Office of the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona, is seeking Probion Officer Assistant(s) in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, and Yuma. The officer assistant serves in a judiciary law enforcement position, under the direction and guidance of a Supervisory Probion Officer. The incumbent will provide technical support and assistance to probion officers in a wide range of areas, including assisting with compiling informion for investigions; assisting with supervision of persons under supervision; preparing and drafting reports and correspondence; appearing in court for violion proceedings and sentencings; and reled duties.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Draft and submit selected reports and maintain reled investigive files and case records. Observe and report to officers/supervisors on the lifestyle, personal problems, and needs of persons under supervision. Assist probion officers in the performance of presentence and or bail investigions, including compiling criminal histories/profiles, running record checks through local and nional dabases and files, conducting inquiries with colleral agencies, and similar activities. Visit or contact various local, ste, and nional law enforcement and regulory agencies to collect and record informion. Provide officers with verifiable and supportable documention to assist in completion of probion reports. Schedule, conduct and monitor urinalysis collection from defendants and persons under supervision, following established procedures and protocols. Maintain paper and computerized records of test results. Inform officers regarding test results. Maintain and mail or transport tests and merials to laborories for confirmion. Maintain chain of custody of urinalysis testing merials. Maintain inventory of supplies. Enter da and informion into the office's computerized dabase system. Monitor inactive cases to include immigrion cases. Prepare violion and reled reports on inactive cases when violion behavior is detected and appear in court on the violion mter. Testify, as necessary, before the court or Parole Commission. Participe in ongoing training and development in order to remain abreast of advanced techniques. Run periodic record checks on a caseload of deportion cases. Photograph and fingerprint persons under supervision. Cover court hearings and maintain chronological records. Where applicable, may serve as an interpreter for officers and for non-English speaking defendants or family members as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of academic study, such as criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, human relions, or business or public administrion, and one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CL-23 to work the CL-24. Applicants must be physically capable, have good vision and normal hearing ability. First-time appointees must not have reached their 37th birthday the time of appointment. Applicants aged 37 or over with previous federal hazardous duty experience under the Civil Service Retirement System or the Federal Employees' Retirement System may be eligible for appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference given to those applicants th have the ability to communice effectively in Spanish. Preference given to those applicants who possess a master's degree. The initial appointment to this position is provisional pending the successful completion of the required background checks and/or investigions.
