About Mississippi's Youth Court Reform Initiative Mississippi advanced significant Youth Court reforms through a Special Session of the Legislature. These efforts are intended to modernize the juvenile justice system, improve services for children and families, strengthen accountability, and create greater consistency among Youth Courts across the state. A central component of the reform initiative is the development of a more standardized statewide Youth Court intake model under the Mississippi Administrative Office of the Courts. The model promotes consistency through standardized policies, professional training, accurate documentation, quality assurance, data reporting, and coordinated operational procedures. The reforms are also supported by the FORUM Collaborative, which brings together representatives from 10 Mississippi state agencies for ongoing coordination. The initiative seeks to reduce duplication, improve communication, develop shared solutions, and ensure agencies serving youth and families operate with one coordinated voice and consistent message. The Regional Youth Court Intake Supervisor will play a key leadership role in implementing these reforms by supporting staff, reinforcing quality standards, ensuring consistent regional operations, and helping establish a reliable statewide Youth Court intake workforce.
