The Hanover Adult Recovery Court is seeking a dedicated and motivated Probation Officer to join its multidisciplinary team and play a meaningful role in helping individuals achieve long-term recovery and successfully move forward in their lives. General Description:

This is a professional position. The Adult Recovery Court Probation Officer is sworn before the court and will perform professional duties as a probation officer with the multidisciplinary Adult Recovery Court (ARC) team.

Organization:

The Probation Officer reports to the Deputy Director of Community Corrections and works jointly with the Adult Recovery Court Team.

Essential Functions:

Evaluate individuals referred by the court for ARC eligibility. Supervise offenders and monitor court/program compliance. Maintain case management records and data input. Administer and observe drug testing. Participate in weekly team staffing meetings. Testify in court when required regarding participant compliance. Monitor pending court cases/dispositions via VCIN and Supreme Court Databases. Conduct home and curfew verifications. Perform other related work as assigned.

Must have knowledge of the criminal justice system, community corrections, judicial systems and procedures. Excellent oral and written communication skills to compile facts and information into concise court reports. Ability to maintain confidentiality and case management. Must be computer literate. Ability to work some non-standard hours including evenings, weekends and/or on call as needed.

Education, Experience and Training:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or related field, and a minimum of two (2) years related experience. - OR - Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary. Previous experience with Recovery Courts or Specialty Dockets strongly preferred.
