Safety Director Arizona Trench Company (ATC) - Phoenix, Arizona Arizona Trench Company (ATC) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Safety Director to lead and oversee our company-wide safety program. ATC is a growing underground utility and construction contractor working as a subcontractor for major Arizona utilities, including APS and SRP . The Safety Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a strong safety culture across our field operations, ensuring employees, supervisors, and management understand and follow company policies, OSHA requirements, DOT regulations, customer requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is comfortable working in the field, communicating with employees at all levels, identifying hazards, investigating incidents, and holding people accountable for safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage ATC's overall safety program and safety culture. Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies, procedures, and programs. Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits. Work directly with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field employees to identify and correct safety hazards. Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Ensure compliance with customer-specific safety requirements, including requirements established by APS, SRP, and other utility customers. Conduct and oversee accident, incident, near-miss, and injury investigations. Identify root causes and develop corrective and preventative actions. Maintain required safety records, reports, documentation, and training records. Develop and conduct safety training, toolbox talks, orientations, and refresher training. Monitor employee and supervisor compliance with company safety policies and procedures. Assist management with disciplinary actions related to safety violations when appropriate. Work with management and field leadership to establish measurable safety goals and track safety performance. Maintain knowledge of changing OSHA, DOT, and industry regulations and communicate changes to management and employees. Assist with OSHA inspections, customer audits, insurance matters, and other regulatory or compliance activities. Coordinate drug and alcohol testing programs as applicable. Oversee required safety certifications, training, and documentation. Promote a proactive safety culture rather than simply reacting to incidents. Travel to ATC jobsites and operations throughout Arizona and other project locations as needed.

Qualifications:

5+ years of safety experience in construction, underground utilities, electrical utilities, or a related industry. Previous experience in a safety leadership or management position preferred. Strong knowledge of OSHA construction regulations and safety requirements. Experience conducting jobsite inspections and incident investigations. Experience developing and delivering employee safety training. Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, underground utilities, heavy equipment, traffic control, and general construction hazards. Experience working with utility contractors or utility customers is highly preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, foremen, supervisors, project managers, and company leadership. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Ability to hold employees and management accountable while maintaining positive working relationships.

OSHA 30, OSHA

500, CHST, CSP, or similar safety certifications are preferred. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
