Job Description

The City of Livermore Invites Your Application For:
Public Works Environmental Health and Occupational Safety Programs Manager. The ideal candidate will possess experience in occupational safety, emergency preparedness, program coordination, or a related field and will know federal, state, and local safety regulations. They will possess experience developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and emergency response programs and can conduct safety inspections, investigations, training, and regulatory compliance activities. The successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills, with experience in preparing reports, maintaining records and databases, coordinating contracts and training, and collaborating effectively with employees, regulatory agencies, and public stakeholders. A typical way to qualify for this position includes the possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in occupational health and safety, industrial safety, environmental safety, construction technology, business administration, public administration, or a related field; three years of progressively responsible experience involving safety program regulatory compliance monitoring, research, report writing, staff training, and policy development. Directly related experience may be considered instead of the highly desirable education. Public sector experience is highly desirable. This position requires possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record, as determined by the City at the time of appointment. Additionally, the successful candidate must have a willingness and ability to work the hours necessary to accomplish the assigned duties; attend evening meetings; and travel out of town and attend workshops, conferences, seminars, and meetings during work and non-work hours.
