Safety Manager Support Construction Safety Across LACCD's Districtwide Capital Improvement Program Project Support Services (PSS) is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to provide construction-safety oversight for projects throughout the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). This districtwide position is responsible for monitoring construction activities, evaluating contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and BuildLACCD safety procedures, conducting jobsite inspections, reviewing safety documentation, and reporting hazards and incidents across multiple active project sites. The ideal candidate has extensive commercial construction experience, a strong understanding of construction-safety regulations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, project managers, field personnel, and program leadership. What You'll Be Doing Provide safety oversight of construction activities across multiple LACCD campuses and project sites. Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations, contract requirements, and BuildLACCD safety policies and procedures. Conduct daily safety reviews of active construction work in accordance with current regulations and program Standard Operating Procedures. Perform construction-site safety inspections and prepare daily reports documenting observations, hazards, and corrective actions. Monitor compliance with Owner Controlled Insurance Program requirements and procedures. Support the Program Safety Manager by attending meetings and preparing requested safety reports and analyses. Attend construction meetings with college project teams, project managers, and general contractors. Lead safety discussions and toolbox topics during construction meetings. site observations and review upcoming construction activities to identify potential hazards and necessary precautions. Prepare and submit weekly Project Health, Safety, and Environmental Observation Reports to the College Project Manager. Review contractor safety submittals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with program requirements. Review Job Hazard Analyses, Methods of Procedure, fall-protection plans, crane-lift plans, excavation plans, scaffold-erection plans, confined-space-entry procedures, and other high-risk work plans. Monitor demolition, renovation, modernization, and new-construction activities for compliance with applicable safety requirements. Monitor projects involving hazardous-material abatement, remediation, waste removal and handling, asbestos, and lead-based paint. Review contractor incident reports and verify that incidents are documented and reported in accordance with OSHA and program requirements. Participate in safety stand-downs and prepare lessons-learned documentation for the Program Safety Manager. Conduct and document safety orientations with contractor safety representatives. Monitor compliance with the program's zero-tolerance and corrective-action policies. Communicate safety deficiencies and required corrective actions to contractors, field personnel, project managers, and construction-management staff. Track corrective actions and verify that identified safety issues are resolved promptly. Maintain accurate records of inspections, observations, incidents, orientations, safety submittals, and corrective actions. Establish daily priorities and provide safety oversight across multiple active construction projects. Travel between assigned campuses and project sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Maintain flexibility in work location and schedule based on project assignments, construction activities, and program needs. Perform other construction-safety responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of commercial construction experience in the United States with a general contractor.
• Minimum 5 years of construction experience in California with a contractor or major subcontractor.
• Minimum 2 years of experience supporting educational construction projects in a campus environment.
• Experience managing or overseeing field construction teams across multiple projects.
• Experience with demolition, renovation, and new-building construction projects.
• Experience working on Owner Controlled Insurance Program projects.
• Experience with modernization or renovation projects involving hazardous-material abatement, remediation, waste removal and handling, asbestos, or lead-based paint.
• Experience with construction-safety inspections, incident reporting, daily reporting, and OSHA compliance.
• One active certification: Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC).
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• All required certifications and credentials must be active and current.

What Success Looks Like The successful Safety Manager will maintain a consistent safety presence across assigned LACCD projects, identify hazards before they result in incidents, and ensure contractors address safety deficiencies promptly. This individual will provide accurate reporting, strengthen compliance with OSHA and BuildLACCD requirements, and promote safe construction practices across the District's active campuses.

Pay:

$135,000.00 - $150,500.00 per year
