Job Type:
Full-Time We are looking for a highly organized, hands-on HR & Safety Manager to support our delivery operation at DFO2 in Oakley, CA . This is not a desk-only HR position . You will work directly with our delivery drivers and site leadership to help keep the team fully staffed, employees accountable, HR documentation organized, and safety standards consistently followed. We need someone who can take ownership of both the employee lifecycle and the day-to-day safety culture of the site. This includes recruiting, onboarding, attendance, employee relations, performance management, safety coaching, incident follow-up, training compliance, and offboarding.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FORRECRUITING & HIRING
Manage job postings and candidate pipelines Review applications and screen candidates Conduct initial interviews Schedule interviews and hiring appointments Maintain a steady pipeline of qualified driver candidates Coordinate background checks, drug screenings, driving eligibility, and other pre-employment requirements Maintain communication with candidates throughout the hiring process Follow up with candidates to reduce interview and onboarding no-shows Track recruiting results and help improve hiring performance Help maintain proper staffing levels for the site
NEW HIRE ONBOARDING
Coordinate new hire paperwork and onboarding Ensure required employment documentation is completed Schedule new hires for training and orientation Maintain accurate employee records Clearly communicate company policies and expectations Review attendance, performance, and safety expectations with new employees Follow up with new hires during their first several weeks Help ensure new drivers are properly prepared before operating independently
DRIVER SAFETY
Safety is a major responsibility of this position. You will help build and maintain a strong safety culture by: Monitoring driver safety performance Reviewing safety trends and recurring issues Coaching drivers on safe driving practices Following up on unsafe driving behaviors Coordinating retraining when necessary Reinforcing company safety policies and expectations Helping ensure required safety training is completed Maintaining safety training records Reviewing driver safety performance with leadership Identifying drivers who may need additional coaching or training Recognizing drivers who consistently demonstrate strong safety performance
SAFETY INCIDENTS & ACCIDENTS
When an incident occurs, you will help ensure it is handled quickly and properly.
Responsibilities may include:
Responding to reported vehicle accidents and safety incidents Gathering employee statements and relevant documentation Collecting photos, reports, and other incident information Maintaining organized accident and incident files Conducting follow-up with involved employees Helping identify root causes and prevent repeat incidents Coordinating post-incident coaching or retraining Tracking accident and incident trends Escalating serious safety concerns to leadership Helping ensure required reporting procedures are followed
SAFETY TRAINING & ACCOUNTABILITY
Coordinate recurring driver safety training Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks Reinforce defensive driving practices Review safe backing, parking, seat belt, distraction, and speed expectations Reinforce proper package handling and lifting practices Monitor compliance with required safety procedures Document safety coaching conversations Follow up with employees after safety violations Help administer corrective action when safety expectations are not met Maintain accurate training and coaching records
ATTENDANCE & RELIABILITY
Attendance is critical in delivery operations.
You will:
Monitor daily attendance Track call-outs, tardiness, and no-shows Follow up with employees regarding attendance issues Identify recurring attendance and reliability trends Maintain proper attendance documentation Coordinate coaching and corrective action when necessary Help ensure employees understand attendance expectations Work with leadership to address recurring reliability problems
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
Serve as a primary HR contact for delivery drivers Answer employee questions Address workplace concerns professionally and promptly Handle employee complaints and workplace issues Conduct fact-finding and employee investigations when necessary Document employee conversations and incidents Help resolve workplace conflicts Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information Promote clear communication between employees and management
PERFORMANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY
We want someone who can build strong relationships with employees while also maintaining clear expectations.
Responsibilities include:
Track employee performance and reliability Coordinate employee coaching Prepare and maintain corrective-action documentation Assist leadership with write-ups and performance improvement Follow up to ensure performance issues are corrected Recognize high-performing employees Help administer employee incentive and recognition programs Identify employees with leadership potential Support employee retention initiatives Maintain a positive but accountable workplace culture
PAYROLL & TIMEKEEPING SUPPORT
Review employee time punches Identify missed or incorrect punches Follow up regarding timekeeping issues Monitor meal and rest break records Assist with payroll corrections Review attendance and PTO records Help resolve employee payroll questions Maintain accurate documentation
OFFBOARDING
Coordinate employee separations Prepare termination and separation documentation Ensure company property is returned Maintain accurate separation records Assist leadership with termination meetings when necessary Help ensure offboarding is handled professionally and consistently
THIS IS A HANDS-ON POSITION
You will be supporting a large team of delivery drivers in a fast-paced environment.
You should be comfortable:
Working directly with drivers every day Coaching employees on safety and performance Handling difficult conversations professionally Investigating accidents and employee issues Reviewing safety data and identifying trends Conducting safety meetings and training Following up consistently when expectations are not met Managing multiple priorities at the same time Spending time in the delivery station and around the driver workforce Taking ownership of problems until they are resolved We are looking for someone who does not simply identify problems — we want someone who takes action to solve them.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred: Human Resources Safety management Driver safety Recruiting Employee relations HR coordination Workplace safety Transportation Logistics Fleet or delivery operations Accident or incident investigation Training and coaching Managing a high-volume hourly workforce Previous delivery or transportation industry experience is helpful but not required .
REQUIREMENTS
Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and follow-up skills Comfortable handling confidential employee information Comfortable coaching employees and enforcing safety expectations Basic computer and spreadsheet proficiency Ability to work on-site in Oakley Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
