An Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director is responsible for directing the strategic approach to managing the environmental impact of an organization on the surrounding area. Responsible for ensuring that the organization has a systematic approach to complying with environmental regulations, such as managing waste or air emissions. Will liaise with directors of other sections of the organization to ensure that strategic goals align with those of the environmental health and safety team.
Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Consultant to join our organization's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe working environment across manufacturing facilities and other operational sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in occupational health, environmental management systems, and safety regulations, contributing to the continuous improvement of workplace safety practices. Responsibilities Conduct thorough safety audits and risk assessments within manufacturing environments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies aligned with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and other regulatory standards. Provide training sessions on workplace safety, hazardous materials regulations, emergency response procedures, CPR, First Aid, and other relevant safety protocols. Maintain accurate documentation of safety incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and prepare detailed report writing for management review. Ensure compliance with environmental health standards by managing environmental management systems and overseeing environmental regulatory compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategies that promote occupational health, environmental health, and employee well-being. Stay current on evolving safety regulations such as OSHA standards, hazardous materials regulations, workers' compensation law, and environmental regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Lead investigations of workplace accidents or near-misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. Support the development of training & development programs aimed at enhancing employee awareness of safety practices. Assist in the management of hazardous materials handling procedures in accordance with environmental management systems. Qualifications Proven experience as a Safety Consultant or similar role within manufacturing or industrial settings. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and environmental compliance requirements. Demonstrated expertise in occupational health, environmental health, and workplace safety initiatives. Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable; additional certifications such as OSHA training or Environmental Management Systems are advantageous. Familiarity with workers' compensation law and regulatory/legal compliance standards in production environments. Excellent report writing skills combined with analytical capabilities for root cause analysis. Ability to communicate complex safety concepts clearly across diverse audiences. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
