Role Description The Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing occupational health, safety, and emergency preparedness programs across VFS Global's operations in the United States, with a primary focus on California. The role will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, mitigate workplace risks, enhance employee well-being, and support business resilience initiatives. Job description Health and Safety Maintain and oversee the organization's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Fire Prevention Program, Emergency Action Plan (EAP), and Heat Illness Prevention Plan for California employees, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. To promote and work with managers in determining safe working practices, ensuring that all service areas have suitable and sufficient risk assessments for their operations and activities and effective risk control measures are correctly collected and stored. To maintain up to date knowledge of current and new legislative requirements, relating to health and safety issues, in order to interpret, evaluate and advise management on the implications of such legislation on service delivery. Undertake planned health and safety audits and workplace inspections as well as ad-hoc site visits and inspections of Visa Application Centres, operation or activity to audit compliance with regulations and procedures. This shall include the provision of reports to highlight where risk assessments and technical input and remedial actions are required. Liaise closely with the HR team and managers regarding matters of concern in connection with specialist risk assessments and training and support requirements. To ensure general administration of the Health and Safety service is carried out in an accurate and timely manner. To maintain, review and revise first aid arrangements, organising appropriate training as necessary. To provide support, advise and facilitate training on employer's and employees' health and safety responsibilities, including induction, assorted Health and Safety awareness training and safety organiser Carry out investigations of all incidents and recommend measures to prevent recurrence. Coordinate health and safety and security training and awareness programmes for staff at all levels. Assist in managing relationships with external regulatory bodies, auditors, and security service providers. Ensure compliance and implementation of environmental health and safety control procedures like waste management, emergency procedures, monitoring, and improvements for assigned areas. Corporate Security Safeguard and protect company assets and provide a safe and secure work environment for employees, vendors, contractors & visitors Provide a visual security presence to ensure that the visitors have a safe and pleasant experience while visiting the centre. Ensure that all electronic and mechanical systems relating to security are functioning properly Responsible for guard force management at all VACs and offices and ensuring guarding company performance as per standards. Ensure Compliance with VFS Global defined information security policies and procedures applicable to the role Involved in Security operation such as ID administration, log review and monitoring. Security Audits and trainings to staff and security guards Sustainability Promote judicious use of natural resources. Adhere to the organisation's environment, health, and safety policies, objectives, and guidelines Anti Bribery Management Systems (ABMS) Follow the ABMS roles and responsibilities details as prescribed on the ABMS manual. Experience Minimum 5-8 years of experience in occupational health, and safety management. Experience managing health and safety programs across multiple locations. Strong knowledge of OSHA and California (Cal/OSHA) regulations. Experience conducting workplace investigations, audits, and risk assessments. Experience working within corporate, facilities, security, or multinational operational environments preferred

Pay:

$60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
