Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Range Safety Officer to oversee firearm safety protocols and ensure the secure operation of shooting ranges. Responsibilities Enforce firearm handling safety protocols and ensure all range users adhere to established rules and regulations. Conduct safety briefings for new shooters, explaining proper firearm use, range procedures, and emergency protocols. Monitor the range during operations to prevent unsafe behaviors and respond swiftly to any incidents or violations. Maintain compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations, and other relevant environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act and National Environmental Policy Act. Oversee environmental regulatory compliance projects, including stormwater management, air permitting, and resource conservation efforts. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately during all activities and ensure all staff and visitors follow safety protocol adherence. Document incidents, safety inspections, and compliance activities thoroughly through detailed reporting. Support emergency response efforts by providing first aid when necessary, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with CPR or other first aid procedures. Qualifications Proven experience in outdoor work environments with a focus on safety management or environmental compliance. Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, HIPAA (if applicable), fire safety protocols, and environmental law including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Strong understanding of firearm handling procedures combined with excellent communication skills for customer service and staff training. Ability to perform first aid procedures including CPR, monitor vital signs, and interact effectively with patients or injured individuals is a plus but not required Excellent writing skills for incident reports, compliance documentation, and safety protocol manuals. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high safety standards.
