Job Description

Job Title:
Life Safety Systems & Fire Alarm Construction Administration Engineer Role Overview We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and client-facing Life Safety Systems & Fire Alarm Construction Administration Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering world-class life safety, fire protection, and low-voltage system designs for mission-critical data center facilities. You will split your time between construction administration services—conducting site visits, punch walks, and witness testing—and leading engineering design work, drawing production, and code compliance evaluations. This is a high-impact engineering role for a technical specialist who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys working directly with clients, contractors, and code officials. You will develop comprehensive fire alarm and suppression concepts, ensure strict adherence to safety codes, and manage multiple concurrent projects from design through construction completion. If you possess deep expertise in fire alarm engineering and data center construction administration, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Construction Administration & Field Support
  • On-Site CA Services:
    Travel a minimum of 25% to various job sites to provide robust construction administration services, including punch walks, installation inspections, witness testing, and contractor support.
  • Problem Resolution:
    Provide rapid internal and external problem resolution, addressing field coordination issues and reviewing contractor submittals against design intent.
  • Client & Official Interface:
    Partner directly with client representatives, project stakeholders, and state/local code officials during facility design, review, and construction phases. Engineering Design & System Development
  • Design Leadership:
    Lead preliminary assessments, conceptual designs, and detailed engineering calculations for fire alarm, detection, suppression, gas detection, smoke control, and life safety systems.
  • Deliverable Production:
    Produce code-compliant equipment specifications, sizing calculations, network diagrams, and construction deliverables in both 2D and 3D platforms.
  • Code Compliance:
    Apply applicable life safety and fire codes (IBC, IFC, NFPA) to provide robust asset protection, fire mitigation, and life safety solutions for complex facilities.
  • Project Management:
    Manage several concurrent projects, monitor schedules, and ensure timely completion of all deliverables while receiving mentorship from senior design leadership. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience Baseline:
    Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in fire alarm and life safety systems design, engineering, or field installation/inspection.

Technical Mastery:
oComprehensive knowledge and design experience with fire alarm systems and related hardware, including VESDA systems. oFamiliarity with major industry manufacturers such as Notifier, Edwards, and Xtralis. oDeep understanding of building and fire codes, including
IBC, IFC, NFPA 101
(Life Safety Code), NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), and NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code / NEC). oProven background leading project tasks and coordinating resources across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Travel & Work Demands:
    Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 25% to active construction sites for field administration and testing.
  • Core Competencies:
    Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills; strong collaborative mindset and client-facing professionalism. Preferred Attributes
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of Autodesk Revit design and BIM coordination experience.
  • Specialized design experience within mission-critical data center facilities.
  • Knowledge of advanced fire protection standards such as
NFPA 75, NFPA 76, NFPA
2001, and NFPA 13.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior staff and managing project estimates or schedules.
