JOB SUMMARY
The Transportation Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all transportation operations adhere to federal, state, and local regulations. This role oversees compliance programs, policies, and audits to minimize risk and ensure a safe and lawful transportation process. The manager collaborates with various departments to maintain standards, reduce violations, and implement training for drivers and team members on compliance-related procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's compliance programs and policies Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the compliance programs, making recommendations for improvements as needed Lead the creation and maintenance of compliance-related documentation and records Ensure the organization's operations and business transactions comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and trends, and update the compliance programs accordingly Advise Executive Leadership on new and emerging regulatory requirements Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks across the organization Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential compliance issues Collaborate with internal audit and legal teams to ensure comprehensive risk management Design and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels Promote a culture of compliance by effectively communicating policies and procedures throughout the organization Provide guidance and support to employees on compliance-related issues Lead internal investigations into compliance violations and provide recommendations for corrective actions Prepare and present reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required Ensure timely and accurate reporting of compliance metrics and activities Manage and mentor a team of compliance professional, providing guidance and support in their development Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment Allocate resources effectively to ensure the team meets its objectives Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and external auditors Represent the organization in compliance-related discussions with external stakeholders Ensure timely and effective communication with external parties regarding compliance matters
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field. A Master's Degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) is preferred. Minimum 7-10 years of experience in compliance, legal, or a related field Proven experience in managing compliance programs and leading a compliance team Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment completing documentation, reporting, policy development, review of compliance records, and communication with internal teams and regulators. Visits to terminals, maintenance facilities, construction sites, or driver locations to audit compliance, inspect records and equipment, and address issues on-site. Exposure to varying environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, noise, moving vehicles, and other outdoor elements, depending on the specific transportation mode (e.g., road, rail).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily sedentary work performed in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and computer use Frequent use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move about facilities during audits, inspections, and site visits Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of files, records, or equipment (generally up to 25 lbs.) Ability to climb stairs, step onto vehicles, or navigate loading docks, terminals, and maintenance areas Visual acuity required for reviewing detailed documents, logs, electronic records, and compliance data Exposure during site visits to operational environments including moving vehicles, noise, temperature variations, and outdoor weather conditions Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety vests, hard hats, or protective footwear when in operational areas Ability to travel by car or other transportation methods as required

Pay:
$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
