Position Summary Directs the organizations safety plans and programs to comply with the regulations governing the Environment of Care, Environmental Compliance and Occupational Safety. Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and directs the system wide safety activities of Orlando Health.
• Develops and aligns the safety strategy to the short and long-term goals of the department and the goals and objectives of the organization.
• Implements policies and procedures to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and team members of all Orlando Health facilities.
• Directs and coordinates safety programs to include training, programs and processes, equipment, and staff to facilitate a safety program throughout the organization.
• Provides relevant advice, guidance, and supportive information to executive team on legal and regulatory changes that affect Orlando Health safety operations.
• Possesses the ability to compile, review and summarize federal, state, and local regulations that affect the safe operation of Orlando Health.
• Maintains effective liaisons with outside regulatory agencies, i.e., the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), The Joint Commission (TJC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
• Directs all EOC, Environmental Compliance and Occupational Safety surveys and inspections for internal purposes or related to an external regulatory agency.
• Collaborates with Engineering regarding Life Safety surveys and inspections for internal purposes or related to an external regulatory agency.
• Collaborates with key regulatory departments at Orlando Health such as Infection Prevention & Control, Regulatory, Patient Safety and Risk Management.
• Works closely with the following departments due to their heavy safety related responsibility to the organization; Clinical Engineering, Engineering and Facility Development.
• Prepares and provides operational reports for various committees and executive level meetings.
• Serves as the Organization's Corporate Safety Officer and Chairs the Corporate Environment of Care Executive Committee.
• Responsible for recruiting, retaining, evaluating, and training managerial positions to include salary recommendations, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules.
• Presents budget estimates, controls expenditures, and establishes operational standards for the Corporate Safety department.
• Maintains professional discipline in the departments and adherence to appropriate policies and procedures of the department.
• Stays informed of evolving technology, new standards and regulations related to safety and makes appropriate recommendations to implement improvements.

Qualifications Education/Training Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Business Management or a related field required. Licensure/Certification Certified through the American Society of Safety Professionals, American Hospital Association, Board of Safety Professionals, or other recognized institution in the field of safety and compliance. Experience

• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible management experience in safety, life safety, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of management experience required.

Qualifications:
