Position Summary:
Aertssen Logistics is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to develop, implement, and maintain programs and policies that support a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role will promote a culture of safety, compliance, collaboration, and continuous improvement across operations while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company standards. The ideal candidate brings experience in behavioral safety, OSHA compliance, and safety engineering controls; builds trust across teams; and takes ownership of improvement programs from planning through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & amp; Health Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, training programs, and PPE requirements. Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments; identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and track corrective measures through completion. Coordinate emergency response plans, safety drills, and first-aid readiness. Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations. Stop operations or activities that could harm employees or equipment. Own the facility Emergency Response Plan, including tabletop exercises and tests. Conduct weekly safety walks with Operational Team Leads, document findings, and drive improvements through completion. Initiate safety awareness programs in close collaboration with headquarters in Europe. Environmental Compliance Monitor environmental aspects of operations and ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations. Maintain records related to hazardous waste discharge and employee exposure. Collaborate with sustainability teams to advance environmental goals. Training & amp; Engagement Prepare and deliver training on workplace safety, emergency procedures, and environmental awareness. Conduct employee stand-up meetings and safety introductions for new hires. Promote employee engagement through safety campaigns, meetings, and recognition programs. Lead safety induction for contractors. Advisory & amp; Reporting Advise leadership and operational teams on EHS matters. Participate in safety committees and management reviews. Collaborate with the EHS team at Aertssen Belgium to benchmark and share best practices across the organization. Develop and maintain safety and environmental performance metrics and KPIs. Ensure completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting. Perform responsibilities in accordance with company quality, environmental, and health policies. Required Skills & amp;
Abilities:
Proactive approach to promoting workplace safety and environmental responsibility. Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and deliver training and lead safety initiatives. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to independently analyze safety data. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety applications such as Driven by Safety. Strong leadership, teamwork, and supervisory skills. Ability to build collaboration and trust across teams. Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. Strong risk-assessment and problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field; master's degree desirable. 3-5 years of EHS management experience in logistics, warehouse, or industrial environments. Valid OSHA certification required. Ability to travel domestically up to 50% to conduct safety inspections at facilities.
Physical & Work Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as walking long distances through warehouse environments. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb up, under, around, and over large equipment. Comfort working in small or confined spaces and at heights of 30-50 feet. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Safety-Sensitive Position This role is designated as safety-sensitive. Essential functions may include operating heavy machinery, construction equipment, or powered industrial trucks, including forklifts, or supervising employees who perform these duties. Performing these responsibilities while impaired could present a substantial risk of serious injury to the employee or others.
