Job Description
Food Safety Manager Grasmick Produce Company - Boise, Idaho Part-Time Position Summary Grasmick Produce is seeking an experienced, part-time Food Safety Manager to oversee food safety, regulatory compliance, quality, and sanitation programs for our fresh produce distribution operation and fresh-cut and repack facility. This is an operational role requiring presence in the warehouse and production areas as well as responsibility for food safety documentation, audits, training, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the company's food safety programs and ensure compliance with applicable FDA and FSMA requirements.
- Serve as the company's PCQI and maintain the Food Safety Plan, hazard analyses, preventive controls, HACCP programs, and related records.
- Oversee food safety and sanitation for fresh-cut and repack operations, including SSOPs and environmental monitoring.
- Manage supplier approval and food safety documentation.
- Oversee product traceability, mock recalls, recalls, and
FSMA 204
compliance.- Lead regulatory, customer, and third-party food safety audits and corrective actions.
- Conduct routine inspections of warehouse, receiving, cooler, shipping, and production areas.
- Oversee GMPs, sanitation, pest control, chemical control, temperature control, and other food safety programs.
- Develop and conduct employee food safety and sanitation training.
- Investigate food safety and quality issues, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Work closely with operations, purchasing, warehouse, transportation, and management to maintain a strong and practical food safety culture. Required Qualifications
- PCQI certification/qualification required.
- HACCP certification required.
- 3-5+ years of food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance experience in food distribution, food manufacturing, produce, fresh-cut processing, or a similar food operation.
- Strong working knowledge of FDA and FSMA requirements.
- Experience with food safety plans, audits, sanitation programs, traceability/recalls, and corrective actions.
- Strong organizational, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work hands-on in warehouse, cooler, and production environments. Preferred Experience
- Fresh produce distribution or fresh-cut produce.
- SQF, BRCGS, PrimusGFS, or other GFSI audit programs.
- Environmental monitoring.
- Supplier verification programs.
